Research Participants Want to Know! What Are the Results of the Research?

Third Thursdays with the ICTR Lecture Series

Register

Increasingly, research participants have reported an interest in learning the outcome of the research they have contributed to, however, relatively few studies have a formal plan to share research findings with the participants.

At our next Third Thursdays with the ICTR lecture, a panel of investigators will disclose the best communication methods for returning results, discuss IRB review of proposed dissemination plans, and offer strategies for deciding what information to return and the appropriate time to do so. Panelists will also share lessons learned from return of study results for various study types (e.g. observational, clinical trial, etc.)

Panelists:

  • Liz Martinez, RN, BSN, CCRC, Research Participant Advocate, ICTR
  • David Sullivan, MD, Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health
