The Introduction to Clinical Research Summer Course provides an intensive introduction to clinical research methods, emphasizing epidemiological and biostatistical methods. Instructors are Daniel Ford, MD, MPH, Director, Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Karen Bandeen-Roche, PhD, MS, the Hurley Dorrier Professor in Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Upon completion, students will be able to:

·       Describe the steps involved in conducting clinical research

·       Review and evaluate the main study designs used in clinical research: case-control, cohort, clinical trials, cross-sectional and meta-analyses

·       Prepare and review a research project

Instruction is expected to be offered online via zoom with some in-person small group sessions. Updates on the schedule will be provided to registered students and on the course website as they become available. SOM Fellows register for credit at no extra cost. Reference the ICTR course website for full course information including registration instructions, course dates, and detailed schedule information. Students must submit an abstract for a research project prior to the beginning of the course. Instructions will be sent in an email after registration.

The official start of the course is July 17th with some course requirements completed online the week of July 10th. A detailed schedule will be sent to students after registration and will also be available on the ICTR website. The weeklong intensive course is July 17-21.
