In Honor of National Women’s History Month, We Recognize ICTR Deputy Director Dr. Cheryl Dennison Himmelfarb

In honor of this year’s National Women’s History Month theme, “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion”, we recognize Cheryl Dennison Himmelfarb, PhD, RN, FAAN. Dr. Himmelfarb serves as the ICTR Deputy Director of Interdisciplinary Research, the Program Director of both the ICTR Community and Collaboration Core and the Recruitment Innovation Unit & the Vice Dean for Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.

Dr. Himmelfarb works to increase community partnership and engage diverse participation in research through community engagement and both digital and grassroot strategies. Dr. Himmelfarb’s research strives to improve trust within the community, which leads to addressing disparities in health.

As an advocate for cardiovascular health equity, her early research focused on hypertension and heart failure among African Americans and other high-risk, underserved populations. You can find publications related to her research in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science and the American Heart Association journal, Circulation.
