This two day in-person symposium provides an educational forum for research colleagues across the nation to share their successful tools, strategies and insights on digital or community-engaged approaches to increase diverse participation in clinical and translational research.

The registration fee is $350 ($300 for those presenting posters). Tuition remission is available for Johns Hopkins attendees.

Digital approaches to enhance recruitment and retention

  • Integration of EHR recruitment services with REDCap, or Clinical Research Management Systems
  • Developing an opt-out institution
  • Operationalizing EHR recruitment services
  • Digital methods for screening, raising awareness, trial procedures, or tracking metrics
  • Methods for dissemination of study results
  • Novel methods of consenting or retaining participants with digital tools
  • Best practices for privacy and security when using digital tools
  • Resourcing research teams at the institutional level

Community engagement approaches as the foundation for effective recruitment

  • Becoming trustworthy: building community trust and developing intentional relationships as a pathway to health equity
  • Building infrastructure to sustain and support the inclusion of community members
  • How to have conversations with community in the use of big data
  • Developing regulatory pathways to include community members as study team members and ambassadors
  • Disseminating information to communities

Turner Concourse is located at 720 Rutland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21205. General parking is available at the Washington Street Garage, 701 N. Washington Street, Baltimore 21205. Visitors with handicap tags or placards may park in the Rutland Garage, adjacent to the venue.
