This ICTR Data Managers Interest Group (DMIG) looks at how to implement/configure eConsent using the updated REDCap eConsent Framework in alignment with current IRB guidance for e-consent.
Description:
Recently, REDCap introduced an improved eConsent framework (REDCap eConsent 2.0). The new eConsent framework adds more flexibility and improves the configuration process. Specifically, the updated framework can now accommodate:
- Multiple languages: Present the appropriate version of the eConsent document based on the participant’s preferred language.
- Site-specific eConsent (for multi-site projects): Present a site-specific version of the eConsent document.
- Multiple Signatures: In almost all circumstances, a valid eConsent requires multiple signatures (participant, study coordinator, LAR…).
- Versioning: How to handle updated IRB versions in REDCap.
Presenter:
Scott Carey, REDCap Administrator
*NOTE: Use of REDCap for eConsent requires IRB approval and REDCap eConsent is not currently approved for FDA-regulated research.
