MyChart Messages

Johns Hopkins Medicine is committed to supporting the discovery of new ways to improve the care and outcomes for patients.

MyChart recruitment messages are messages received through the MyChart patient portal that offer research-related opportunities to Johns Hopkins Health System patients. Our goal of distributing these opportunities through MyChart is to empower patients by connecting them with clinical research studies that may of interest to them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Specific individuals receive MyChart recruitment message when their demographic information and/or medical history (i.e. diseases, medication use, procedures) meet specific criteria for a clinical trial or research study.

No. The study team does not have access to the names or electronic medical records of individuals contacted through the MyChart Recruitment Service.

If you would like to stop receiving MyChart messages related to recruitment, you can unsubscribe from future MyChart recruitment messages by emailing Research_Recruitment@jhmi.edu.

Researchers receive permission from the Johns Hopkins Medicine Institutional Review Board (IRB) to send automated MyChart recruitment messages to a group of patients who may be eligible for a study.

Your care at Johns Hopkins will not be affected if you ignore or delete this message. Your clinical care team will most likely not even know if you agreed to join the study. Please note that you may receive an automated MyChart recruitment message again unless you unsubscribe.
