Aaliyah is a rising high school sophomore who is passionate about nursing and pediatrics. She was part of the Summer Jobs Program last year and previously interned at the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department. Aaliyah enjoys exploring the various medical fields through the Summer Jobs program to discover which one she wants to pursue. We appreciate her continued dedication to the program and are excited to see her bright future in health care.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with our intern, Aaliyah. She has made valuable contributions to our department, from updating presentation slides for our seminar to conducting research and assisting with the organization and updating alumni contact information. Most recently, she played a key role in preparing documents for a critical budget report we are submitting to the NIH. I often refer to Aaliyah as my “gold star” as she is consistently punctual, quick to learn, and always willing to take on any task with enthusiasm. Her support has greatly lightened our workload. On behalf of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), we appreciate all that Aaliyah has done, and we’re confident she will be a tremendous asset wherever she goes in the future,” says her supervisor, Cordelia Sawyer, a project administrator for the ICTR Education and Training programs.

The students receive professional development workshops to further their personal and professional skills. This week, they will focus on resume writing.

If you happen to run into an intern, feel free to introduce yourself and get to know them. They are the next generation of healthcare professionals with a strong passion for medicine. We look forward to seeing their success and growth this summer!
