Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst

Position Overview:  This position is responsible for writing and maintaining extract/transform/load routines to get data from institutional data sources for use by clinical researchers. The position is also responsible for creating datasets from extracted “raw” data that support biostatistical analysis.

Describe the Position’s Roles & Interactions: This position will require a significant level of collaboration with the CCDA manager and other members of the CCDA team. This position will:

  • Work closely with CCDA research customers to discern their needs and to understand and address changes that arise from end user acceptance testing.  A weekly scrum is held with the entire team to review all work.  The analyst will use Jira to document and track assignments. Data must be delivered in a secure manner, following all applicable institutional policies and State and Federal regulations for privacy, security, and the conduct of human subject research.
  • Partner with each clinical investigator, starting at the time of intake, to assess the customer’s technical and analytic capacity and connect the team to biostatistical expertise where needed to remove data roadblocks and wheel-spinning.
  • Provide data-related guidance beyond data extraction, at every project phase (pre- and post-data delivery). Post data delivery, hold data walk-through sessions, connect teams with training materials, and be on call to answer data-specific questions, ensuring that teams feel comfortable with their projected data.

This position will also follow all applicable institutional policies and State and Federal regulations for privacy, security, and the conduct of human subject research.

Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst II

Position Overview: This role is responsible for data analytics and additional support of performance measures, ongoing measurement, data collection, reporting, data visualizations and information dissemination. Responsible for implementing the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence applications. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Ensures that the use of business intelligence applications enhances business decision-making capabilities. Engages in data exploration exercises with a variety of complex business intelligence tools, requiring knowledge of relational database structures. A resource on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. Will provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Collaborates with other analytic teams and central engineering team as directed. Works under the supervision of a Data Trust Analytic Team Leader or other data governance or analytic leadership appropriate for the scope of work. This supervision may be through a matrixed or direct reporting structure.

Academic Program Administrator

Position Overview: We are seeking an Academic Program Administrator who provides administration and management for several of the Clinical Research Training, Education and Career Development Programs through the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). Under the direction of the Project Administrator the Academic Program Administrator will oversee all aspects of day-to-day administration of  several programs including the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) Program  funded by the National Institute of Health. The Academic Program Administrator will develop, organize, upkeep, and implement processes, procedures, and systems for these efforts. The incumbent is expected to execute the varied duties and responsibilities independently, with minimal supervision.

Describe the Position’s Roles & Interactions:

  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, policies, and systems. Includes utilizing and maintaining the trainee database, trainee seminar schedule, and trainee requirements for each program.
  • Responsibility for budgetary areas include budget tracking, and monitoring, as well as contributing to the planning and preparing of annual program budget(s) and projections.
  • Work with the Academic Program Manager to process human subject (or animal research) prior approval for all scholars.
  • Coordinate all scholar requirements and follow scholar progress through entire program, ensuring requirements are met, and assisting in resolving questions and problems.
  • Monitor and assist with the admissions processes and recruitment.
  • Suggests and implements enhancements for a more successful scholar experience including identifying opportunities to build programs, update existing resources, and develop new resources.
  • Assist with preparing Annual Progress Reports and competitive grant renewal applications.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for program communication for scholars and faculty
  • Represent the program to key stakeholder groups, including university leadership, program faculty, ICTR administrative staff, Executive Committees, as well as external departmental staff and faculty and collaborators.
  • Plan and manage special events including, but not limited to, information sessions, trainee orientations, monthly career development meetings, conferences, seminars, committee meetings etc.
  • Initiate appointment & termination forms.
  • Manage the Flight Tracker system for scholars, trainees, and alumni.
  • Design and collect program evaluations to monitor and evaluate training programs and produce regular reports for Program Directors.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive records/transcripts/files.
  • Create strategic direction for both internal and external websites in collaboration with the Academic Program Manager and Marketing and Communications.
  • Attend the annual Association for Clinical and Translational Science Conference and/or the annual BIRCWH Conference
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
