University of Maryland Baltimore Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (UMB ICTR)
The University of Maryland Baltimore Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (UMB ICTR) has partnered with us to pool resources in order to improve the translational research process to get more treatments to more patients more quickly.
By addressing obstacles in translating basic science discoveries into research in humans, translating clinical discoveries into the community and communicating experience from clinical practice back to researchers, we strive to fulfill the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) goal “to foster collaborations to improve the quality, safety, efficiency and speed of clinical and translational research.”
Through our combined schools and hospitals, we aim to impact research across the state of Maryland.
Day at the Market Program
Day at the Market is an outreach and engagement program launched in 2016 at the Northeast Market, located adjacent to the Johns Hopkins University East Baltimore campus. This program aims to not only share health and wellness information, but to serve as a learning tool for being a better partner with the community, as a dissemination vehicle to return what they have learned to the community, and to bridge the gap between the local community and Johns Hopkins University.
Through our partnership with the University of Maryland Baltimore, we expanded the program to Lexington Market (located within one block of the University). Together we will bring health, nutrition, and exercise resources to the patrons of the market. Our hope is that the individuals we interact with will receive pertinent educational materials, answers to questions from experts, and services or resources that will help them make positive behavioral changes for health.
