How to Apply to BIRCWH

Completed applications including all components (with supporting documents) listed below must be submitted online via our REDCap application system. It is the applicant’s responsibility to prepare and collect each component and submit them by the indicated deadline. Please visit the the following Application Link to submit the two part application with supporting documentation. Applications missing any required components or submitted after the deadline will not be considered.


Application Requirements

  • Personal statement of professional goals including description of research interest or proposed project (maximum of 3 pages, single spaced, 12 point font)
  • Research Plan (maximum of 5 pages, single spaced, 12 point font)
  • Proposed Advanced Training Plan (proposal for advanced training or career development, maximum 2 pages)
  • NIH biosketch (5 pages)
  • Nominating letter from your proposed faculty mentor
  • Nominating letter from your department/division director
  • Proposed mentor(s) NIH biosketch including research support
  • One additional letter of recommendation


Application Instructions

  1. Click on the application link above
  2. If you choose to “save & return later” to complete any part of this application you must note the survey ID and instructions provided to be able to return and complete your application.
  3. Complete and submit Part 1 of the REDCap application which will include
    • Applicant information
    • Primary mentor’s name and email
    • Mentor’s NIH biosketch
    • Division/department chairs name and email
    • Recommender’s name and email
  4. Submitting Part 1 of the application will allow for automatic notices to be sent for nomination letter(s) and recommendation letters(s). Letters are due by 5pm on April 17, 2020.
  5. You will be automatically directed to begin Part 2 once you submit Part 1.
  6. Part 2 of the application will include the submission of the remainder of the supporting documents listed above.
  7. Part 1, Part 2 and all supporting documentation are due by the April 15 deadline.
