Now Available: 2010-2014 MarketScan Commercial Claims and Encounters Database

The Johns Hopkins Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness (CDSE) injunction the ICTR would like to remind the research community of a unique data resource that is available to trainees and faculty – the 2010-2014 Truven MarketScan Database.  This database, which is available through an Open Academic License, contains data for several million individuals annually, encompassing employees, their spouses, and dependents who are covered by employer-sponsored private health insurance.

Medical claims are linked to outpatient prescription drug claims, person-level enrollment information and, for a subset of individuals, laboratory results. The open academic license allows for free use of these data for non-funded projects; reuse fees apply when the data are used as part of extramural grants or contracts.

The license is supported by the Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness (CDSE), Department of Health Policy & Management, Division of General Internal Medicine, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and the Center for Surgical Trials and Outcomes Research (CSTOR).

For more information, including how to access these data, attend an information session, visit the CDSE website or email the CDSE directly.
