We are pleased to announce the opening of a new Clinical Research Unit (CRU) dedicated to research for patients who are COVID 19+ or participating in prevention trials in the ambulatory area. The leadership team includes Mark Sulkowski, MD (medical director) and Stephanie Katz, MSN, RN (nurse manager). This COVID Ambulatory CRU will be one of the family of CRU’s supported by the ICTR. This CRU will include facilities appropriate for this population, support for recruitment of this population through the HOPE registry, and research professionals (nurses and coordinators) that are available to assist research teams.
The initial costs for setting up this unit are covered through grant support and institutional resources. Going forward, research teams will be expected to pay for their use of the CRU. The CRU team will help with grant applications to be certain costs are appropriately identified and budgeted.
Mark Sulkowski has both the leadership skills and the research experience to lead this new unit. We are very appreciative that Mark and Stephanie have taken on this role.
