Louis B. Thalheimer Fund for Translational Research

As part of its effort to provide a continuum of funding to inventors across the University desiring to advance discoveries on a commercial path, Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV) is requesting proposals for translational funding. Established through a generous endowed gift, the Louis B. Thalheimer Fund for Translational Research provides $200,000 annually in seed funding to inventors across the University for technology validation and product development studies. The annual funding cycle occurs each spring and this year’s application deadline is March 15. The funds aim to support technology commercialization across all industries.

Proposals are evaluated on the basis of:

  1. commitment of the inventors to commercialization
  2. prospective market size and competitive advantage
  3. technical feasibility and
  4. the potential for attracting follow-on funding / strategic partners / customers.

Award Size: $25,000-$100,000
Length of Project: Up to nine months
Eligibility: Hopkins faculty with intellectual property
Application Deadline: March 15, 2019
