Clinical Research Scholars (KL2) Program Visiting Professorship Seminar

 

Dr. Laura Ferguson obtained her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester where she studied the behavior of circulating cancer cells under flow. She completed her M.D. at New York Medical College followed by Residency and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland. She then traveled to Philadelphia for fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she worked with Drs. Jake Brenner and Vlad Muzykantov to learn the techniques of targeting nano-scale drug carriers to the pulmonary vasculature, and additionally received a M.S.T.R degree for this work. Dr. Ferguson is currently a Clinical Instructor and attending physician at the University of Pennsylvania and is designing nanomedicines to improve drug efficacy and toxicity profiles in pulmonary fibrosis. Dr. Ferguson is participating in a CTSA Visiting Professorship Program across KL2 institutional hubs to provide an opportunity for KL2 scholars to give lectures at participating institutions with the goal of enhancing trainee experience, sharing science across disciplines, networking, and encouraging new team science collaborations. Dr. Ferguson is currently a KL2 scholar with the UPenn program.
