SUMMARY:University of Maryland Baltimore ICTR (UMB ICTR) Enrichment Series
DESCRIPTION:University of Maryland Baltimore ICTR (UMB ICTR) Enrichment Series\nFrom Claims to Communities: Building Trusted Data Partnerships o Advance Health in Maryland \nSpeaker:\nAllison Middleton\, JD \n \nAdministrative and program data (like health program records and insurance claims) can be very useful for clinical and translational research—but only if people work together effectively and agree on how data will be used and protected. In this seminar\, Alice Middleton will explain how The Hilltop Institute uses large-scale program and claims data for practical research and evaluation\, and how researchers can partner with organizations to turn analysis into useful actions for communities and policymakers. \nShe will cover straightforward steps for starting collaborations between institutions\, including: \n\nMatching research questions to what stakeholders (health systems\, public agencies\, communities) actually need\nSetting clear rules for who looks after the data and how privacy is protected\nAgreeing on the types of results and products that will be most useful\n\nThe talk will also give real examples of collaboration paths so ICTR investigators can move more quickly from an idea to results that make a difference.
