The ICTR is offering a workshop, OpenSpecimen – A Biospecimen Management Solution, on Friday, Sept 30 at 9:30 am in Tilghman Auditorium. Presenters; Jim Potter, Matt Marcetich, Bob Lang, Jennifer Parks, Pam Murray and Diana Gumas; will share how OpenSpecimen can enhance the Precision Medicine Initiative.
Biospecimens are the source of much of ‘Big Data’ and are increasingly essential for cutting edge biomedical research. Improved technology for biomarker discovery and validation now requires a systems approach for the integration of research and clinical data. OpenSpecimen can assist with:
- Annotation of research and clinical data with biospecimens
- Queries and biospecimen discovery
- Improved security, user authorization and auditing
- Legacy data import
- Interfacing with enterprise informatics systems and/or external datasets
