DESCRIPTION:Keynote speaker David Thomas\, president of Morehouse College and noted academic and expert in organizational management and higher education leadership\, will speak to the theme\, The Dynamic Power of Hope\, in the spirit of Dr. King’s unwavering optimism for a more just world. \nThe commemoration will feature recognition of nine people who received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Community Service for their volunteerism. Read their inspiring stories. \n\nAdegboyega Abdulkadir\, clinical associate\, Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center\nSheila Castle\, clinical supervisor\, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital\nSophia Corrigan\, physician assistant\, general internal medicine\, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine\nElhadji Gueye\, student intern\, care coordination\nTyson McDuffy\, inventory planner\, Johns Hopkins Health System\nCynthia Major Lewis\, director of adult psychiatric emergency services\, The Johns Hopkins Hospital\nOluwabunmi Ogungbe\, assistant professor\, Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing\nPratya Poosala\, graduate student\, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health\nJohn Sampson\, associate professor\, anesthesiology and critical care medicine\, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine\n\nWe will also present Nakiya Showell*\, assistant professor of pediatrics and medical director of the Johns Hopkins Harriet Lane Clinic\, with the Dr. Levi Watkins Jr. Ideals Award.
