Introduction to Financial Management for Community-Based Organizations

For community-based organizations! During this capacity building workshop participants will gain a clear understanding of basic financial management and why it is essential to the health of an organization. This session will help clarify roles and responsibilities of not only those who oversee the finances of an organization but of those who make purchases or obligate funds on the organization’s behalf.
Participants will learn about:
• Best practices for financial management
• The importance of documentation
• Overhead costs
• Creation of a basic monthly financial summary
• Cost/benefit analysis
This is a hands-on workshop. Participants will apply what is learned during the session and will prepare a simple income statement by the end of the session.
