ICTR Deputy Director Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Associate Professor Toby Gordon has been recognized with an Excellence in Teaching Award from students in the 2013-2015 cohort of the MBA/Master of Public Health dual-degree program offered by the Carey School and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Gordon, who earned her ScD in health policy and management from the Bloomberg School, has expertise in the areas of health care policy, management of hospitals and health systems, and technology commercialization. She has joint appointments at the Bloomberg School and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. At Carey, she serves as the academic program director of the health care management programs and directs the Discovery to Market course on technology commercialization. In addition, she is the deputy director for business strategies for the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is currently the section editor of Medical Technology for the journal Surgical Innovation and serves as a health care expert for the European Commission.

Her professional background before Carey included serving as vice president of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, consulting with academic medical centers, teaching, and conducting outcomes research in surgery with a focus on the relationship between cost and quality.
