Our next Data Manager’s Interest Group (DMIG) webinar will feature a panel discussion to reflect on the first year of NIH’s updated data sharing policy that required Data Management & Sharing Plans for most proposals indicating how and where research data can be made accessible in an online data repository.

Host:

David Fearon, JHU Data Services, Data Management Consultant, JHU Data Services- Reviews the library’s support for data sharing plans.

Panelists:

  • Thomas Burns, Associate Dean for Research Affairs, Office of Research AdministrationDiscusses Office of Research Administration’s experiences with the policy changes and impacts on investigators.
  • Valerie Smothers, Data Trust Administrator- Presents JHM Data Trust and JHU’s guidance and expectations related to sharing patient data, and how investigators can respect patient privacy while complying with NIH policy.
  • Andreia Faria, Associate Professor, RadiologyDescribes her 2023 DataWorks! award-winning data sharing plan, and obstacles in actually sharing data including refining JHU’s data sharing policies and the repository’s challenges handling “big data.”
