Our next Data Manager’s Interest Group (DMIG) webinar will feature a panel discussion to reflect on the first year of NIH’s updated data sharing policy that required Data Management & Sharing Plans for most proposals indicating how and where research data can be made accessible in an online data repository.

David Fearon, JHU Data Services, Data Management Consultant, JHU Data Services- Reviews the library’s support for data sharing plans.
Panelists:
- Thomas Burns, Associate Dean for Research Affairs, Office of Research Administration– Discusses Office of Research Administration’s experiences with the policy changes and impacts on investigators.
- Valerie Smothers, Data Trust Administrator- Presents JHM Data Trust and JHU’s guidance and expectations related to sharing patient data, and how investigators can respect patient privacy while complying with NIH policy.
- Andreia Faria, Associate Professor, Radiology –Describes her 2023 DataWorks! award-winning data sharing plan, and obstacles in actually sharing data including refining JHU’s data sharing policies and the repository’s challenges handling “big data.”
